Laura Dornheim to hold keynote!

We are thrilled to announce that the second keynote of FOSS Backstage 2023 will be held by Laura Dornheim!

Dr. Laura Dornheim is IT officer and CDO of the City of Munich. Previously, she worked for several years as a manager in the digital industry and as an honorary politician. Laura Dornheim studied business informatics at the University of Hamburg and did her PhD on women in leadership positions at the University of Lüneburg. Her central concern is to make digitalisation sustainable and inclusive.

In her keynote, she will be exploring how to achieve Cooperation and Inclusion through Open Source. Government agencies have always been required to cooperate, but so far this cooperation has always been strictly hierarchical and only top-down. Public administration is supposed to work for the citizens, but in the perception of many people this is not the case. The use of FOSS leads to a paradigm shift. Suddenly, not only the directly involved authorities are the target group, but in principle everyone, whether administration, business or civil society. There is no need for lengthy cooperation agreements; the formal boundary between authorities and citizens becomes more permeable when everyone can openly see what is being developed and can try it out and develop it further themselves. Laura will introduce you to how the city of Munich is trying to drive this paradigm shift towards more FOSS.We are excited to have Laura at FOSS Backstage and are eager to hear her thoughts! If you want to hear her speak as well, get you ticket for FOSS Backstage now!
